Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos

Image Update - Renovation & New Construction

AutoBuilders awarded a multi phase renovation and new construction project for Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos. The project calls for renovation of the dealership’s main sales building with reimaging to new/current Chevrolet Image specification.  Renovation of the parts department and construction of a new service drive and associated exterior features is also encompassed in the build out. The fast track project is being staged to allow continued, uninterrupted operation of the dealership during construction. Stewarding the project for AutoBuilders is Project Manager Luis M. Cruz. The projected completion date is August 2013.

The project owner is UAG Cerritos, LLC. Representing the owner is Roger Penske, Jr. This is a repeat project. For the owner, AutoBuilders also has completed Land Rover of Cerritos (CA), Buick GMC of Cerritos (CA), Mercedes of West Covina (CA) and Honda of Ontario (CA).

Toyota of Surprise

45,000 Square Foot Sales & Service Facility

AutoBuilders awarded the ground up construction project of Toyota of Surprise in Surprise, Arizona. The project encompasses an 8-acre site, the dealership’s state-of-the-industry showroom and offices, full parts and services departments with quick lube service bays and a detached 5,000 square foot car wash and detailing facility.  The project is being facilitated for Penske Automotive Group (“Penske”). This is a repeat project on behalf of Penske. AutoBuilders recently completed Hyundai of Round Rock (TX), Toyota of Round Rock (TX), Honda of Round Rock (TX), Commonwealth Audi (CA), Mini Cooper of Commonwealth (CA) and Crevier BMW (CA). The fast track project is slated for completion in November of 2013.


Combining aesthetic and functional technology, among other notable features the project includes an entry with custom integral stamped concrete and saw cut patterning on the exterior, an aluminum storefront with low “E” glazing and automated vertical sunshades. The project features two elevated car displays and an all LED exterior lighting package.

Corona MAZDA® Corona, California

AutoBuilders awarded the ground up Construction Management project for Corona MAZDA®, a Corona, California MAZDA dealership. The project was awarded by Owner, Joe Cardinale and is located at 2 Heitzinger Plaza in Seaside, California. The 17,679 square foot project’s slated completion date is November 2013. The project will expand the dealership’s operational spaces using an existing parking lot on the property’s site.

Michelle S. Teachout Promoted

Named Vice President of Finance & Human Resources

Michelle S. Teachout was named Vice President of Finance and Human Resources. She has been a member of the AutoBuilders’ leadership team for over 20 years, most recently serving as the corporate controller and human resources director. Michelle Teachout commented, “From the time I joined AutoBuilders, I’ve viewed my position as a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of something great. 30,000 Square Foot Renovation & Rebrand

Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram of Paramus

AutoBuilders awarded a renovation and image rebrand construction project to complete Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram of Paramus, New Jersey.  AutoBuilders will renovate and remodel the nearly 30,000 square foot existing structure and construct a new showroom expansion of 5,000 square feet. The fast track construction project is phased, allowing the high volume dealership to remain open throughout the entire project.  Scheduled for completion in April 2013, the project was awarded by Chrysler Group Realty.


The project architect is Canzani Associates Architects.  Also teaming with AutoBuilders in facilitating the project is venerable CBRE. Founded and operated by Thomas Canzani, Canzani Associates is an architectural firm based in Paramus. CBRE is the world’s premier, full-service real estate services company. Operating globally, the firm holds a leadership position in virtually all of the world’s key business centers.

Ferrari-Maserati Boutique

Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, CT – 15,000 Square Foot Renovation & Update

AutoBuilders awarded a remodeling and renovation construction contract to complete the Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, Connecticut luxury and sports car boutique. The project calls for AutoBuilders to renovate 15,000 square feet, updating the showroom to the very latest Ferrari-Maserati design standard. The project architect is Ridberg and Associates, Greenwich, CT.

This is the first phase of a multi-phase construction project. Subsequent phases call for pre-construction services and the exterior makeover and renovation of the existing service facility.

Manhattan Fiat, New York

110,000 Square Feet Renovation and Rebrand

AutoBuilders awarded a renovation and rebrand project of the Manhattan Fiat dealership located in Manhattan, New York. The 110,00 square foot, six-story project calls for AutoBuilders to renovate the building’s interior and exterior. The existing structure dates to the 1930s. The project is being facilitated on behalf of repeat customer Chrysler Group Realty.

Luis Cruz Named Project Manager

Regional West Coast Office

Luis Cruz was recently named a Project Manager of Regional West Coast Office, located in Santa Ana, California. Luis Cruz brings over 30 years of multi-discipline experience in the areas of engineering, construction management, project management, consulting and architecture. Luis Cruz holds a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Texas.

211,000 Square Foot Round Rock Auto Group

Penske Automotive Group – Expansion Encompasses Campus of Projects

Penske Automotive Group, Inc. (“Penske”) has awarded AutoBuilders a multiple-project contract at its Round Rock Auto Group campus in Round Rock, Texas. The three-pronged integrated team consists of Penske Automotive Group, project architect John Corley of Black Corley Owens + Hughes PA, and AutoBuilders General Contracting Services. The Integrated Project Delivery Approach is one advocated by AutoBuilders for its inherent efficiency in designing and managing the entire construction process.

The Round Rock Campus includes:

Round Rock Honda/Toyota Service Center – an 80,417 square foot new construction, dual service center was completed in January. 100% condition spaced, the center provides customers and service technicians a climate-controlled environment, state of the art facility.

Round Rock Hyundai – site construction on this ground – up, 30,000 square foot facility began this month. The project meets the Hyundai image program in all customer touch point areas.

Round Rock Honda – a 40,250 square foot interior and exterior renovation complies with Honda’s image program and more than doubles the size of the current showroom space.   Construction is scheduled to complete in October 2012.

Round Rock Toyota – a 45,000 square foot interior and exterior renovation. The renovation included construction of a leading edge, new vehicle delivery area, featuring individual glass walled bays for new vehicle demonstration and delivery.  The facility complies with the Toyota Image USA program.  Construction is scheduled to complete in May 2012.

Pre Delivery Inspection Building (“PDI”) – a nearly 9,000 square foot renovation, encompassing remodeling of an existing facility and the addition of five service bays, interior updates and construction of a new front facing façade structure. The facility includes a car wash and inspection area for of all new and incoming used vehicles. All Round Rock campus members share the PDI facility.

Penske Corporate Accounting Offices – AutoBuilders converted an obsolete Smart Car facility into a Penske regional corporate accounting office.  The office accommodates sixty plus employees in approximately 30 offices.
